چکیده

A decline in immune responsiveness with age has been well documented (1-10). It is known that the B cell function of aged mice is relatively more intact than T cell function, at least quantitatively. Qualitative differences in B cell function do exist, including a decreased affinity of antibody produced by cells from old mice (3) and an enhanced tendency to produce autoantibodies (1). In a previous report (11) we have suggested that part of the age-associated decline in the immune response is due to an increased production of auto-antiidiotype antibodies (anti-Id) 1 by old mice (11). A high auto-anti-Id response by aged animals was also suggested by studies of Kl inman (12). Such an increase in auto-anti-Id has been demonstrated in both thymic-independent (13) and thymie-dependent (14) responses. We describe here a series of experiments that analyze the cellular basis for the increased production of auto-antiId during the immune response of aged mice to trinitrophenylated-lysyl-Ficoll (TNPF). We sought to determine whether the elevated production of auto-anti-Id by old mice is stable upon transfer of spleen cells to irradiated recipients, and whether B or T cells were primarily responsible for this phenomenon. The results to be reported support the view that this age-related alteration in the immune response reflects a change in the peripheral mature B cell population rather than a change in the immature B cell population in the bone marrow, and that peripheral T cells play an important role in determining this property of peripheral B cells.

The Presence of Anti Thyroid and Anti Ovarian Auto-Antibodies in Familial Premature Ovarian Failure

Background Premature ovarian failure (POF) is a disorder of multi causal etiology. Autoimmunity has been proposed as a mechanism for some cases of ovarian follicle dysfunction which is evident in POF. The aim of this study was to identify the level of auto-antibodies in POF and familial POF patients. MaterialsAndMethods In this study, auto-antibodies including anti-ovarian antibody (AOA), anti ...

Guaranteed resonance enclosures and exclosures for atoms and molecules

In this paper, we confirm, with absolute certainty, a conjecture on a certain oscillatory behaviour of higher auto-ionizing resonances of atoms and molecules beyond a threshold. These results not only definitely settle a more than 30 year old controversy in Rittby et al. (1981 Phys. Rev. A24, 1636-1639 (doi:10.1103/PhysRevA.24.1636)) and Korsch et al. (1982 Phys. Rev. Auto-antibodies in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unclassified

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU) is considered to be an aberrant immune response with loss of tolerance to many antigens. Objective: This paper tries to address whether there is any value to test for auto-antibodies in such patients. Methods: 60 patients with inflammatory bowel disease unclassified participated in the study. Auto-antibodies to nuclear antigen, intestin...

Sero-surveillance of Measles in Iranian Army Students after Nationwide Revaccination in 2004

Background: Decay of vaccine–induced antibody titres without boosting of the wild measles virus has been well documented. Revaccination against measles has reduced the prevalence of the disease worldwide. Revaccination may cause IgE induced anaphylaxis. Objective: To study measles IgG antibody in revaccinated populations and its relation to IgE induced hypersensitivity. Methods: Blood samples w...
